A Night Shift Worker's Dream

Those of you who work the night shift know that it's not always day shift that gets all the admissions from the ED and surgery. We've had nights where we went from 10 patients at 2300 to 20 by 0530. So I came across a funny picture that I'd like to share...

I suggest we start doing this at night. People will walk up to the ED at 2 a.m. with a toddler complaining of lethargy and neck pain... and instead of being admitted with Bacterial Meningitis at 0345, we'll simply look at them and say, "Sorry, the emergency room isn't open. Please see your primary doctor when their office opens if you are wishing to seek care prior to 9 a.m. If you can wait until 9:01a.m., feel free to come back when day shift arrives."
